The Castle of #Todi, historically known as the Tower of Porchiano, was one of the watchtowers built to defend the town of Todi around the year 1000. The Castle of Todi sits amid beautiful gardens spread over two acres of land, partially enclosed by high stone walls. Separated by woods and pine trees, one discovers a traditional Italian garden divided by hedges into 'rooms' characterized by pergolas, fountains, and sweeping views creating a theatrical effect. www.sothebysrealty.com/eng/sales ...

There are numerous hypotheses about the origin of the city, but a legend, #Todi has arisen at the behest of Veii Umbrians, a population that lived in the Valley of the #Tiber #River; while in fact had already begun work on the construction of the city on the banks of the river here is that an eagle arrived while the men were having dinner and took it away with his claws dragging the tablecloth on the highest point of the hill. The inhabitants of the #Valley thought that this was a sign of destiny and built the town of Todi on the hill. More www.todi.net/storia.htm
